Parents will be here tomorrow and I graduate from Grad School this weekend!!! Yay!!! Even better, my parents get to see the house on Thursday. Our PM is giving us a tour. I can't wait to see what it's going to look like!!!!! :)
So we put in our official notice to our apartment building that we will be moving out on March 31! It was a bit of a hard decision on our part. Since we are on a month to month lease now, we couldn't be pro-rated (which sucks big ones!!!) So if we moved out on June 1, we'd have to pay for the whole month of June! So let me build the scenario here....
Final Walk-through: 5/27
Closing: 5/31
Final Move-out date: 5/31
Get the picture?? So how on earth are we gonna do this?? LOL Well we're going to have to PLAN (which is not complete quite yet lol)!!!! I will need your support!!! I'll be posting regular 'moving/packing' updates to keep us motivated.
Wow!!! THats pretty conflicting huh...well pack up a uhaul and keep your stuff in there for maybe a couple days... That time flew!!!
ReplyDeleteI agree with India. Pack your Uhaul the night before that way you can drive it to closing. When you guys get the keys just head on over and start moving in!
ReplyDeleteThanks ladies! Yah that's what we're planning to do. It's good that we are closing on a Holiday weekend too!
ReplyDeleteForgot to say CONGRATS!!!! on your graduation.
ReplyDeleteHere's another tip for moving and closing the same day. When we moved from our apartment to our first house we did all the packing ourselves. Then while we were at closing we had movers come in, load everything into a truck and shortly after we got back from closing they pulled up out front and unloaded all our boxes and furniture into our new house. It was not that expensive and was a huge savings in time and on my back...especially since our apartment was on the second floor!!!
ReplyDelete@ BD I did not realize you can have the movers load and unload I thought the movers would have to pack up your box but that is a good idea especially saving you the aches and pain later with all the boxes furnitures that wil need to carry.
ReplyDeleteACP you should pack up everything in the uhaul the night before and next day wake up early and just drive over to your new place then just move all boxes in. Remember you do not need to unpack everything in one day at your new plce just focus on where you want your furniture to be and the kitchen boxes.
Soo exciting!
By the way congrats on your graduation! Go out and celebrate at your favorite restaurant....
ReplyDelete@Stephanie...another tip is that sometimes you can find local/small movers for a lot less money then the big boys.
ReplyDeleteCongratulations on graduating! Just remember, it all works out in the end (with the moving/closing, I mean) :)
ReplyDeleteCongrats on graduation.
ReplyDeleteWe're using moving helpers through uhaul. We pack the stuff, they load the truck, we drive it, then they unload it. Saved us a ton of money. I suggest scheduling a 9am settlement to insure no issues. Also ask your landlord what time you have to turn in the jets by, just in case.
THANKS SO MUCH everyone for the suggestions! BD, I had noidea that you could have movers load and unload only!! This is quite facinating! I'm thinking we may load it up and have them unload! Will chat with the Hubby tonight about it! Thanks for the congrats as well everyone! It's been a long road and I'm so glad that I'm graduating! Now I can focus on our new house!
ReplyDelete@2011- The earliest we could get was 1PM for our settlement sucks, but I guess we'll figure it out!!
